    About the field of study

The Advanced Biobased and Bioinspired Materials field of study is conducted entirely in English. It is interdisciplinary in nature and combines selected topics of chemistry, biology, medicine, physics and engineering sciences. The study trains in the design, manufacture and analysis of the properties of functional materials of biological and medical significance, their applications and methods of disposal. The curriculum of the Advanced Biobased and Bioinspired Materials course is implemented using modern educational methods based on real-world problem solving and group work. It also takes into account knowledge of technological processes based on renewable raw materials. Major subjects include. Biochemistry, Biophysics, Synthesis and Physicochemical Properties of Polymer Components, Biomaterials Science and Technology, Modern Techniques in Biomaterials and Nanostructures Synthesis and Analysis, Bioresources, Bio-based Materials, Life Cycle, Biodegradation, Nanomaterials, Tuning of Biobased Materials' Applicabilities' Polymer Composites Mimicking Nature, Emerging Technologies Inspired by Nature, Supramolecular Self-Organization Inspired by Nature. Each student of Advanced Biobased and Bioinspired Materials within the framework of the study program is pursuing at least one semester of what is called the "Mobility Semester" at a foreign university.

    About you

Are biomaterials the future of medicine? Thanks to their remarkable properties, they are used during complex surgeries and can even permanently replace certain tissues. The Advanced Biobased and Bioinspired Materials field of study will teach you about how to produce such materials.

This is a study that will prepare you for work related to the formation of properties and analysis of various materials, including biomaterials and nanomaterials, the design of products with desired functionality or the design or analysis of materials of biological origin. The study program is designed to give you access to the latest information and methods used in the industry. During your studies you will learn not only about science, but also about the application of information technology or data analysis in the industry. You will gain the knowledge necessary to start your own business. Above all, however, you will learn to solve problems independently and work in interdisciplinary teams with specialists from different scientific disciplines. As a graduate, you can start a career in companies, scientific, R&D, consulting and certification units related to the broad field of biomaterials and functional materials, as well as in other related industries and the high-tech sector.
