About the field of study

The demand for smart building specialists is growing every year. Only the combination of knowledge from electrical engineering, architecture and environmental engineering provides the interdisciplinary competence required to successfully perform the tasks of designing, programming and integrating management systems in intelligent and energy-efficient buildings. The study program for intelligent building control systems has been designed in accordance with these latest market expectations  It includes both basic subjects and specialized profiled classes. Students have the opportunity to learn about the specifics of the electrical industry, modern energy management systems and the installation of renewable energy systems. A full range of courses in programmable controllers and control and measurement systems gives the graduate transferable skills for use in many related industries. It is an interdepartmental field, run by three Faculties at TUL: Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering; Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering; and Process and Environmental Engineering.

About you

Smart building estates and cities are no longer a frame from a science fiction movie. It is a vision that permeates our daily life. The construction industry, on the one hand, has to meet the growing expectations of customers, on the other hand, it has to meet increasing legal and economic requirements, such as energy efficiency of buildings. If you want to learn how to design technical innovations and learn the principles that will create future infrastructure, choose Intelligent Building Control Systems!

The use of sensors is already a standard in modern construction. You will not only learn how to design such systems, but also learn how to program the devices that power them. You will be able to significantly automate the operation of buildings and introduce facilities to make life easier for their users. You will gain not only IT and technical skills, but also interpersonal skills. This is all thanks to undertaking interdisciplinary tasks in a group and leading the work of the group during the studies. You will also learn how to prepare appropriate technical documentation. In addition, knowledge of renewable energy sources, power system upgrades and building installations will allow you to design buildings in accordance with the idea of "eco friendly". This combination will allow you to land a profitable career in research and development laboratories or construction offices. Not only will you be able to design and implement innovative solutions, you will also be able to perform inspections and energy certifications of buildings.
