About the field of study

Our proposed course of study is an offer to obtain the competence necessary to independently create "intelligent" algorithms, machines and devices. Students not only gain knowledge of the latest technologies, but also learn how to create systems capable of solving complex problems, assisting or replacing humans in performing tasks underpinned by fundamental, higher-level skills: understanding content, anticipating and planning, making decisions, and performing actions. Graduates will learn how to teach algorithms or how to make them learn, as well as how to solve tasks in the objectively best possible way and deal with the unpredictability and uniqueness typical of the real world. Our proposed model of education is a close link between the theoretical foundations of the field, built from scratch, and the practical application of the knowledge transferred, implemented through laboratory and project-based classes. The program is structured to give those willing the opportunity to go to a foreign university for a semester.

The study program is available on the website. Detailed information about the field can be found on the website

Competencies you will gain

Classic AI methods
Logic and fuzzy logic
Search algorithms
Python (with Tensorflow / Pytorch)
Machine learning (ML)
Exploratory data analysis
Classification and prediction methods
Teaching with reinforcement
Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Image and signal analysis methods

About you

Artificial intelligence has imperceptibly penetrated from the cinema and the pages of literature into our everyday lives. What problems will it help us solve? How will it change reality and what will be the limits of its possibilities? Will it become a tool for fulfilling the dream of a safe world? That will depend on its creators - few specialists for the time being, facing fascinating challenges that require imagination underpinned by solid competence. And since it seems that artificial intelligence will be a major formative force in the coming world, joining the ranks of its architects is the challenge of the moment, which if taken up will offer the chance to get an exciting, lucrative job. Choosing to major in artificial intelligence and machine learning will ensure that you are competent in creating intelligent algorithms, systems and machines. You will gain preparation for both independent and team development or improvement of solutions with great potential for commercialization (development of autonomous systems and vehicles, support or automation of medical diagnostics, development of systems for recognition, analysis and generation of images and speech, construction of intelligent Internet of Things devices, development of forecasting and planning systems). The study program is designed to provide you with the foundation necessary for further work of a scientific nature in company research centers or in academic units.

Interest in candidates with competencies in artificial intelligence and machine learning is widespread, both from IT companies operating in the local Łódź labor market (ABB, Digica, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Accenture, Transition Technologies, ZF, Innovatica, Commerzbank, EPAM-PolSource, StxNext, Harman) and in global markets (led by technology giants - Google, OpenAI, Facebook, DeepMind). Due to the topicality and scientific-research dimension of the field, there is currently a huge demand for graduate students of the proposed profile from domestic and foreign university centers.
