About the field of study

The program offer of Chemistry of Building Materials opens up the prospect of students gaining higher education, a modern profession and the ability to successfully manage their own careers. The implementation of education in this area is closely linked to the constant participation and direct influence of future employers on the design of the study program and the educational results obtained by graduates in terms of knowledge, skills and social competence. Already during the creation and implementation of the first--cycle degree program, industry representatives, including those gathered in the Association of Manufacturers of Construction Chemistry, with which the partner universities (Gdańsk Tech, TUL and AGH) signed an agreement, had a significant influence on the selection of subjects and the definition of the graduate's profile. Currently, SPChB offers internships and topics for engineering projects carried out in industrial plants. The study program is designed to provide a thorough knowledge of the problems of manufacturing and use of modern building materials, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, in the spirit of sustainable development.

The list of courses taught in each semester can be found on the website

Graduate opinions

Academic knowledge, the ability to analyze a problem and the ability to work systematically to solve it are competencies I acquired during my studies at the Faculty of Chemistry of Lodz University of Technology. I started my career working in the laboratories of the R&D department at Atlas in Lodz, where I was in charge of creating formulas for new products.

About you

If you're planning a renovation or construction project without paints, varnishes, and other types of items used for mounting and sealing, don't move! Such a wide assortment is part of the construction chemicals category, which has become an extremely significant segment in the market for materials used in construction. You have already learned the basic knowledge of how to prepare materials with the right properties and what technologies are used during manufacturing in your first-degree program, but to create advanced substances, you will need another level of initiation.

During your second-degree studies, you will learn to design technological processes and industrial installations on your own. You will gain knowledge about the management of recyclable materials in construction and management in manufacturing plants. You will learn about modern finishing and insulation materials and technologies, as well as methods of conservation and restoration of architectural objects. In addition, you will learn about the legal aspects of construction, how to patent and raise funds. Above all, however, you will become a specialist, distinguished by excellent knowledge of advanced materials modification technologies and advanced materials testing methods.

Internship

Job perspectives

  • enterprises, operating in the field of construction, related to the manufacture, processing and use of construction materials and engaged in recycling in the broadest sense,
  • local government units, where graduates work as experts and specialists in construction chemicals,
  • positions as technologists, product engineers, analysts and quality controllers, and customer advisors in companies involved in the production of building materials, additives and finished products used by the construction industry.
