I work for a company that plans to transition to coal-free by 2030. This is a transformation that I am involved in and that is happening right before my eyes, and in which I can participate as a specialist after studying Civil Engineering.

A second-cycle study in Civil Engineering is a great choice for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and skills after a first-cycle degree. This field of study is addressed to individuals who plan to deepen their knowledge of design, project management or specialize in a specific field of civil engineering. Candidates can choose specializations, focusing on modern design of building and engineering structures or renovation and modernization of existing structures.
For those who were previously passionate about design, second-cycle studies open the door to more advanced aspects of construction, and allow to deepen knowledge in specialized areas related to the interests and professional ambitions of candidates.
During the first semester of second-cycle Civil Engineering, a student chooses one of two specializations: civil engineering structures (KBI) or modernization and renovation (MIR). Depending on the choice, orientation is either to the design of new complex structures or to the modernization and revitalization of existing projects. The study program consulted with the Lodz District Chamber of Civil Engineering as a representative of the professional community.
In the case of the civil engineering structures (KBI) specialization, the program is extended by IT subjects, training modern civil engineering designers through the latest digital technologies and directly combining knowledge and construction skills with aspects of programming and parametric design. Students are educated in classes on structural mechanics and project management. They also study structural reliability and learn about construction hazards. They know how to use the tenets of sustainability in their projects.
An important pillar of the MIR specialization (modernization and renovation) is ecology in the broadest sense, so in selected specialization courses students will learn about various aspects of sustainable construction, learn how to design and revitalize buildings in harmony with the surrounding environment. Students will learn about special materials, renewable energy or thermo - modernization systems. They can also choose interesting classes from a range of elective subjects, such as structural strengthening, design history and corrosion of building materials.
A list of courses in both specializations is available on the website.

In the movies, the Empire State Building always makes a great impression. Interestingly, its construction took only one year and 35 days. To this day, this is a record for creation of a building of this size. The total cost was $24 million, although $43 million was allocated for the investment. The building is a result of the Great Depression and is still considered today as an example of the positive impact of the crisis on the economy.
This is just one of the construction achievements of recent years. Modern plans to creat smart cities The Line or Oxagon in Saudi Arabia are just a harbinger of the coming revolution in the industry. If you want to become a part of it take your skills to the next level and choose a second cycle degree in Civil Engineering. They will allow you to expand your knowledge and competence with the theoretical and practical aspects of designing advanced concrete, steel and timber structures. You will also gain the ability to coordinate across trades in joint interdisciplinary architectural and construction projects on a BIM course. You will have the opportunity to gain the authorization to design and direct construction works without limitations in the specialties of structural and civil engineering, railroad engineering for railroad structures, hydraulic engineering and demolition engineering. You can also apply for limited authorizations in the architectural specialty and installation specialty in heating, ventilation, gas, water and sewage networks, installations and equipment.
