About the field of study

The purpose of this field is to convey structured technical knowledge (theoretical and practical) of basic sciences (mathematics, chemistry, physics) and specialized expertise of papermaking, paper processing and printing. The studies provide knowledge of management, law and economics, as well as humanities and social subjects, taking into account personality development. The study program is designed to prepare specialists to work in the rapidly growing pulp and paper, paper processing and printing industries, as well as in design offices and for small-scale manufacturing, service and administrative activities in these industries. The competencies that students acquire are based both on the latest world scientific literature, research carried out at the Institute of Papermaking and Printing at Lodz University of Technology, and experimental and expert work performed for the needs of the domestic paper, printing and converting industries. The study program  of "Papermaking and Printing" was developed in cooperation with potential employers: domestic and foreign industrial plants. The study program has taken into account the curricula of major European universities, e.g. Aalto University of Technology, already developed according to EU guidelines (in accordance with the so-called Bologna Program). The described study program is aimed at maximizing the chances of quick employment.

Graduate opinions

Paper and Printing Technology is a field of study that offers something for everyone. During classes there is almost a family atmosphere. What I valued most in my major was the diversity of acquired knowledge. Paper and Printing Technology is a unique major, thanks to which the lecturers have very close contact with the industry.

The field of study of  Paper and Printing Technology is unique. Professors approach each student individually and know them by name, which creates a warm atmosphere. The demand for specialists in this industry is growing every year, so anyone who has graduated from this field and wants to work in the profession will easily find a job.

About you

As a Paper and Printing graduate, you will become an engineer prepared to solve problems in the field of pulp and paper, printing, processing technology. You will be prepared for professional work in the paper and printing industry and related industries. You will acquire the skills to operate machinery and processes in industrial plants, interact with support services and manage medium-level technical supervision, and undertake independent business activities. In addition, you will be ready to work in machine building and repair plants and paper and printing equipment, design offices, industry laboratories, administration and education (after completing the teaching specialty).
